vRealize Operations Manager – Licensing misunderstanding

For those who get vROps included with their vSphere purchase (ie VMware vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus) you might be assuming that you get the equivalent vROps licence. This is incorrect. You will only get vROps Standard regardless of whether you purchase Enterprise or Enterprise Plus vSphere licensing.

For Advanced or Enterprise vROps you need a separate license key applied to the solution before you will get access to features either version, including dashboard and report management.

For a comparison between the three different licensed versions of vROps see vRealize Operations Editions Compared
